As a kid growing up in Oakland, California, I was surrounded by animals -- dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish, anoles, a gopher snake, a rabbit, even a wild boar for a time. Not your typical suburban situation, but we had it all. The obsession with animals was something I shared with my dad, the original Big Guy.
They say "do what you love" and it'll make you happy. I love spending time with animals. I can watch them for hours. When I focus on them I relax. They continually fascinate and inspire me.
When I create, I have a dialogue with each critter. I start with the animal and its anatomy. From that point, my hands and imagination take over. When it comes together, I've made something out of nothing: A bit of paste, plaster, plastic bottles, wire, clay, paint, really whatever works. Each piece is an experiment. One of a kind.
All pieces are available for purchase. Please contact us for more information.
I hope you enjoy them.
